Making Tax Digital

MTD – Making Tax Digital for VAT

Following the announcements from HMRC in July 2017, Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT will come into effect from April 2019.  From that date, businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) will have to provide their VAT return information digitally to HM Revenue and Customs through MTD functional compatible software via the HMRC Application Programming Interface (API) platform.

Other businesses will not be asked to keep digital records until at least 2020, but they will still be able to file digitally on a voluntary basis if they wish.

If your current system is non-compliant, or you would like to sign up for our own MTD service to assist with the implementation, please do not hesitate to contact our MTD team, headed by Debbie Major, direct on telephone number 01832 360021 or by email to mtd@essamca.co.uk who will be pleased to provide further information.
